Doctoral School Council

Composition of the ED 624 Council

Following the decision of the inaugural meeting on February 12, 2019, the Doctoral School Council consists of 26 members, divided into four groups:

A) one representative from each of the 14 research units (during the first term of the council, EVCAU and the Anthropology and Ecology of Disease Emergence unit are permanent invitees without voting rights);
B) two BIATSS staff members, each managing one of the two departments;
C) 5 elected doctoral candidates;
D) 5 external members elected by the other council members.

The term of office for non-doctoral members is five years and coincides with the accreditation period of the Doctoral School.

Doctoral members are elected for two years. Their term ends the day after their thesis defense, at which point the substitute takes over as full member, following the order of election results. It is desirable that elected representatives belong to different research units and, as far as possible, reflect the scientific diversity of ED 624 and the different statuses of doctoral candidates. Their role is to convey proposals collected from doctoral candidates using methods of their choice, ensuring the broadest possible representation of viewpoints, which are then presented to the Council or the Executive Committee.

If required by the agenda, the ED Council may be expanded to include invited members (notably Master’s program directors and heads of UFRs or Faculties).
